A few words about the CITROEN XANTIA:
1,528,800! This staggering figure is the number of units produced between 1993 and 2002 in France, Spain, Italy and China. The Xantia is a brilliant successor to the BX, and is packed with new technologies that make it a unique car of its kind. It was designed with the hydractive II system, then 18,236 units were manufactured with the activa system (see next question). It is therefore the only CITROEN vehicle that will be manufactured with all 3 suspension systems. The hydractive 2 suspension will be reserved for the top-of-the-range version of the Xantia. It has a button in the passenger compartment that allows you to switch from "sport" mode to "soft" mode.
It is even the only CITROEN that can have green spheres AND gray spheres. We address this point in the following questions. 2 manufacturing phases will follow one another.
Whether it was a saloon or estate version, the Xantia inherited most of the engines installed on the XM. Among the new features was the 3.0 V6 engine! However, it would not be until 1997 that it appeared in the range, as an option on the Activa models (equipped with a 5-speed manual gearbox) and Exclusive (equipped with an automatic gearbox). As for diesel, it was the 2.0 HDI 100 version that would have the lion's share, but for that, it would be necessary to wait until 1998 and phase II of the CITROEN XANTIA.
The interior of the Xantia is less austere and a little more aesthetic and neat than the BX, although it took several modifications before achieving the desired result. It was even voted the most beautiful car of the year in 1993.
In 2002, production of the Xantia stopped in France, giving way to the CITROEN C5 and their brand new LHS hydraulic fluid. However, in Iran, it would continue to be successful until 2010, with a slightly different version than the one we know.

Why do we find green AND gray spheres in your Xantia categories?
A unique model of its kind, the Xantia was an ideal guinea pig for the launch of the grey spheres, the famous "saucers" which will be fitted as standard on the CITROEN C5 and CITROEN C6 . From 12/1997, on the brand new phase II, (but mainly from 2002), some Xantia are equipped at the rear with grey spheres. This particularity exists on the 3 suspension systems, and on the petrol or diesel engines. They are also found on the Estate version!
