What is an anti-sag valve?

The anti-sag valve is part of the SC-MAC (Constant Ride Height System) hydraulic system fitted to the Citroën XM and Xantia.

This system prevents the vehicle from "sagging" when stationary by isolating the suspension from the rest of the hydraulic circuit if the pressure drops.

The valve is activated as soon as the hydraulic pressure is sufficient: it allows fluid to flow to the suspension height corrector. If the valve leaks, the seal is broken and the vehicle can sag when stationary.

What role does the anti-sag valve seal play?

The seals ensure the internal tightness of the SC-MAC valve. Without a proper seal, the hydraulic fluid (LHM) can leak, the valve can no longer maintain the necessary pressure in the suspension circuits, the car can sag when stationary, and this can also lead to corrosion or premature wear of the surrounding hydraulic components.
