A sphere is divided into two separate parts (two sealed compartments) by an extremely resistant, deformable elastomer membrane. The upper part of the sphere is filled with nitrogen (a non-toxic, non-flammable gas), and the lower part is filled with LHM oil. A valve-equipped orifice at the bottom of the sphere allows oil to pass through the cylinder to the actuator. Once your Citroën has started and warmed up, the oil is pressurised by the pump. It then presses on the membrane and compresses the nitrogen to a perfect balance. Once underway, the nitrogen pushes back the LHM, which returns the suspension arms (via the piston) to their starting position. The engine drives a high-pressure pump coupled to an accumulator, which distributes the high-pressure hydraulic fluid to the various systems, such as the brakes and power steering.
